Four Girls, A Guy, and a Pair of Pink Socks

video
Region 14 is keeping it real.  We had a terrific week one in Tennessee.  The kids are amazing.  Outside of our wonderful camp experiences we were able to go deep into a cave, explore Nashville, and go to a drive-in movie. Somehow we get along really well. Katey is loving this song (no matter what song) and she is gonna kill me (Spencer).  Our 10 hour trip to South Carolina was tons of fun.  We started our singing shinanigans and learned much about one another.  The week in South Carolina has been awesome.  It started with a afternoon on the beach and a dolphin swimming experience.  We were just hanging out in the water when out of nowhere a dolphin decided to swim between all of us. AMAZING!  That same night we saw three gators on our walk back home. AWESOME!! Later in the week we were able to jet ski on the water and ride around on the tubes.  We are also going to the military base tomorrow to check out the fighter jets.
On the camp side of things, it has been amazing.  Tim Conrad has been a generous volunteer at our evening camp this week.  He has even been mobbed by crazy fans for book signings.  Although we seemed to be more exhausted today than ever, the gospel presentations went extremely well.  God is doing wonderful things through us.  We are sad that these two weeks together are coming to a close, but we are thankful that we have been given the opportunity to expand God's kingdom and learn a little about ourselves along the way.  Region 14 has had a blast and loved every minute we had together.  God has been His usual amazing self and has blessed us with the opportunity to be together to spread His word.  We hope the best for everyone we were in contact with. God bless.  Region 14, Signing Out!!!!!!

UW Intern Cabi Duren in the news

Check out this article about UW Intern Cabi Duren. It gives a nice UW shout out at the end of it as it talks about what she is doing this summer with us!

Yeah Region 6!

Yeah! Go team Go! Heidi, Grace, Caleb and myself (Ryan) have just finished our first week of camp in Newcastle, PA! And boy, I tell ya! It was great! I don't know if I've seen so many people out in (what seemed like) the middle of nowhere before. I think I could have walked about 1/4 mile away from the church and gotten lost in the middle of the forest. It didn't seem like there was more than 20 homes within 10 miles of the church, but somehow we had over 150 kids at camp! It was pretty shocking, but terrific.

Oh, first off... on the way to PA we had a layover in Chicago and my team helped force me to get my inner confidence up. They figured, "how can you teach kids to have inner confidence, if you don't have any yourself?" They were right, and it was fun. (if you feel the need to know more, I'd be happy to fill you in).

While in Newcastle, we had, quite possibly, the greatest game of Chinese Checkers ever played with the children's pastor (John Tice) and his family. Heidi Came in First, with Grace and myself following suit at 2 and 3. Caleb came in at 4th but turned out to be the real winner by sabotaging the game for everyone else until they were forced to bribe him to move, and he came away with lots of goodies.

So, needless to say, the first week was terrific, and we are settled in and getting ready to start week 2 out of training in Denver, CO.

Lucky number 13

Hey from Region 13! We are counting all our stuff right now making sure that our money and equipment is in order, while our fearless leader Joe is stuck in the airport in Georgia...he gets to fly out tomorrow morning at 5am, so us ladies ran a great night camp on our own!
South Carolina is hot and humid but absolutely beautiful. Our house is less than half a mile from the atlantic ocean (which is WAY warmer than the pacific, which amanda and hannah found out).
Our morning camp was small, but as a team we are reading Galatians and are remembering that a little yeast, the little things we are doing here, can spread and grow. Our night camp had some energetic children that kept us on our toes.
I personally enjoyed one girl named Kitty who most of the week called me and the rest of the cheerleaders "sissies". By Thursday, after a little taunting, she gave up, decided that she liked me, and immediately asked for help on her memory verse. We had a "truce" for the rest of camp.
Amanda was sick all week. We realized plane rides do not help with those things. But luck
y for her we have a 7 hour drive instead of a flight tomorrow. (she says "yebo" which means yes is Isizulu)
From- the Divas

Here are a few quotes for your enjoyment..

"I died last night"
-Amanda (said every morning)
"I woke myself up because I heard myself sleep talking"
-Amanda
"Can I give you three orders and push the button again?"
-Kathleen at Sonic
"Birthday....."
-Joe
"He was on the ground, not breathing, he was dead....He was what kids????? DEADDDD!"
-Kathleen giving the bible story
"Yebo"
-Lawanda
"Joe, Joe, you are going the wrong way Joe."
-Caitlin (as Joe was driving the wrong way on a one way street)
"PIMP.... its a kind of fruit...like a pineapple.."
-Hannah in the pool in her dress code appropriate one piece
"Coooooper!...get out of the marsh"
-Volunteer Teresa

"Let's blog about that"

First off props to Region 3 on the rap. Quality. We like to keep it short and simple here with Region 7...

1.) The first week of camp was AWESOME! 18 decisions were made in the morning and not really sure how many at night...that camp was a little unlike our others, just ask about it.

2.)Head injuries are contagious when you decide to be in basketball.

3.) Our larynx and esophagus have become hoarse this week. Ministry still went on.

4.) We now offer soccer, basketball, and double dutch at camps. Contact church for details.

5.) Hot dogs... everyday... 3x a day... at camp, especially beef hotdogs...we liked to feed the multitude.

6.) Region 7 hung out for the first time as a team on Thursday. We just couldn't get enough of each other!

7.)Frankly apparently thinks smoke detectors and storm detectors are the same thing.

8.) During the World of Need presentation, Frankly and Aimee were juggling...they passed me the ball. Needless to say a camper was pointing out to me in front of the whole camp, that I (Kristi), really needed to practice more.

9.) Aimee likes to break up fights in basketball.

10.) The Lord held off the rain so God could use us to present the gospel! PTL!!!!!!!!!!!!

11.) It was dirty shirt Friday. Frankly, Ames, Sienna, and I wore the same camp shirt 3 days in a row. We smelled awesome!

12.) A Team 45er actually called Sienna her real name...well close enough. Sieonna.

Holla from Region 5

Heyyyy sooo Region 5 is having a blast here in New Mexico! Things are going very well. It is easy to find our way around because the mountains are ALWAYS on the East(According to ever person we have come into contact with here in NM.) So thankfully we haven't gotten lost. We are currently a mile high up the mountain and eating plenty of green chili which is causing Kaleo and Seth to finish every meal in tears. Thursday went great! Kids came to the Lord and we even had the opportunity to see a child get baptised tonight! Life is sweet.Kara and Christina. and Seth and Kaleo holla back also :)

Region IV

Hey everyone, best region here...we think the lack of food, surplus in sugar, and high density in heat are really making this team what it was meant to be.

7:00 am Wake up, breakfast
8:30 am Rollin into church with 30 campers
10:00 am SNACK TIME...HALLELUJAH
12:15 p.m. Pray (so important)
12:16 p.m Tourist's in Tampa hosted by Z
12:17 p.m. Catchin zzz's while Z tours..just kidding we love tour time
2:00 p.m. shopping, beach, animal noises?
4:00 p.m. welcome to church of 600. Mel had 85 45ers and they LOVED her, Janae had 35 cheerleaders and can now lead 'hey burrito' in 45 different dialects (British is her best), Ben rocked it at soccer (be sure to ask him what his favorite movie is sometime), Kait found a turtle suit and became our mascot, and Z preached to the multitudes and has a new favorite song motion
9:20 Back in the car...eat...laugh...live...get home hopefully before 12

Seriously though, we love our team and we have great memories already.
Region 4 SAY NO MORE

"Sometimes, life is like a cream puff..."

Hey hey! Greetings from Region 11, the land of sweet tea, humidity, and hospitality! We're now halfway through our first week of sports camp and we are having a blast. We only have a morning camp this week, and because of the extended public school schedule, we actually didn't start camp until Tuesday and won't be wrapping up until Saturday.
We've had a couple of curveballs thrown at us in these first couple of days. For starters, we were expecting a camp of about 60....buuut we have about 80 instead, which is great - we're really pumped! In addition to that, the weather hasn't been very good, and we're not so pumped about that. It's been interesting running basketball for 40 campers inside a church sanctuary (yeah, watch out for the organ) and Farley has had to run his own show in a facility across the street (we like to call it the Farley Fun Hour). Oh, and speaking of Farley...did you know his favorite movie is Twilight? ;)
The church we're working with has been amazing and blessed us in so many ways. We're practically have our own mansion for the week, thanks to a family in the church who have given us their house this week while they're vacationing. (One room of the house is adorned with some random, creepy gnome statuettes, which may or may not have ended up on Katrina's pillow or in her suitcase.) Another member of the church owns a gym and gave us guest passes for the week, so we've been loving that as well. What has been really cool for us though, is the opportunity we've had to bless them in return. Not having an evening camp has freed us to help out with a couple different ministries. Yesterday afternoon we went to the Ward St. Mission, which helps out low-income families in the community, and helped them organize a warehouse full of donated furniture and appliances. Today we helped our host church with a garden that they are growing to feed the needy in this area. So yeah, the opportunites we've had this week to be tangible hands and feet of the Body have been awesome!
As a team, we are absolutely loving the week so far. We have a fantastic blend of personalities and are just having fun being together (Farley takes all credit for this). We're excited to see what God has in store for us in the last few days of this week and even into next week as well!
Now, I can't fairly end this post without giving an explanation for the title. That, UW friends, is a direct quote from the prayer of an oh-so-sincere parishoner this Sunday at church. No, I'm not kidding and yes, we refrained from busting up in church. We saved it for the van...

Peace out,
Region 11

REGION 1!!!

Today we had a girl at our outreach camp named Michelle who was very reluctant to join in. Julie went and talked to her for awhile and it turned out that Michelle had a lot of questions. She wanted to know who Jesus was, who created us and what heaven and hell were. After spending most of camp talking with Michelle, Julie went through the evangecube with her and she ended up getting saved!! PTL!

On a funny note Stene dropped our regional notebook outside on monday and it opened up and all the papers came loose. And since we are in California and there is wind, the papers blew everywhere so Stene chased the papers all around the parking lot. But no worries, he caught them all and reorganized it!
So far this week we've been to a Giants game (under protest from Kimberly) and Ghirardeli Icecream! The boys are staying with a guy who was a Jedi in Star Wars, which is pretty cool!
Love,
Region 1

Leslie Keeps it Interesting

Our trip has gotten off to a super start. We arrived with no troubles. Leslie keeps us on our toes by saying anything that comes to mind. Spencer loves to sing the theme song to the Lion King. Jess is recovering from a sore throat, and Katey lost her voice. Monica just goes with the flow. We have been able to get off to a great start with our camps. The volunteers here in Tennessee (ha, no pun intended) have been terrific. The kids have been enthusiastic and eager to learn. Although we are only two days in, we have been able to see progress with in the campers. Both with the sports and within their hearts. We pray that God will continue to use us as we teach these kids. Please continue to pray for us.

P.S. This UW crew is crazy. We are awesome!!!!!!
